When was the last time you checked your watch before hitting post on a vacancy? If the answer’s never, read on (you’re not alone). Little known to some, timing is crucial to the exposure your post will receive (and I don’t mean the difference between posting at midday or midnight).
Whether you’re social recruiting via Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram (or all 5) it’s worth considering what time of the day it is; Even as little as one hour could make a considerable difference to the amount of click-throughs your post receives.

As you can see, each social network has it’s own most effective time to post. However, which day of the week you choose can be just as critical; Take Twitter for example, posting on a Monday afternoon between 1 and 3pm is going to be far more effective than say, 1 to 3pm on a Saturday.

As a general rule of thumb, it is always best to post on a weekday with the exception of Pinterest which peaks on the weekend; Which is just as well because I don’t know about you, but I like to keep my weekends work-free 😉
As a ‘professional’ network, LinkedIn isn’t included on the Infographic which specifically addresses social sites. However since we’re looking at this data from a social recruiting perspective LinkedIn naturally needs to get a mention as well.
Unlike the others, LinkedIn tends to be used used predominantly before and immediately after usual working hours (understandably no-one makes a habit of searching for jobs on the clock).
So, with this in mind the best time to post a job on LinkedIn is roughly 7-9am and 5-6pm on a weekday; As the saying goes, the early bird catches the worm!
